Battle Of The Car Brands
Read about what attracts us to ‘car branded’ glasses and sunglasses.
There’s something about certain high-end car brands that inspires a sense of excitement, an understanding of quality and a feeling of luxury in most men but what does a car manufacturer know about designing glasses and sunglasses? In this blog I’ll be exploring what you get when you choose a pair designed by Bugatti, Jaguar or Porsche Design.
Believe it or not, there are quite a few aspects that do cross over. When you buy a car from one of those three brands, what do you expect? Comfort, Longevity, Exclusivity and Style. Plus speed of course, but glasses don’t have a 0-60 rating. However, all three brands do deliver on the other stuff when it comes to eyewear. Lets take a look:
Bugatti
It’s hard to explain what makes Bugatti glasses so special, but when you put them on you know. I’ve never been in a Bugatti car but I imagine the feeling is similar. Im sure the moment you start driving one you can tell its a class above. Every piece in the Bugatti eyewear range is made entirely by hand in France, and you instantly get that same impression. You can view the manufacturing process here, by the way:[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ background_position=”left top” background_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” spacing=”yes” background_image=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” padding=”” margin_top=”0px” margin_bottom=”0px” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_direction=”left” hide_on_mobile=”no” center_content=”no” min_height=”none”][fusion_youtube id=”https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTemDnfMRoU” width=”600″ height=”350″ autoplay=”no” api_params=”” class=””/][fusion_separator style_type=”none” top_margin=”20″ bottom_margin=”0″ sep_color=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” class=”” id=””/][fusion_text]Bugatti glasses are timeless, original and very solid feeling. And they look great, although the styles are quite quirky. Certainly of the three brands were looking at here, they are the most stylish and fashionable.
Jaguar
Made in Germany, Jaguar frames are very strong and comfortable. One thing I love about Jaguar frames is that they all have a curve to them; this means they wrap around the face slightly which delivers more peripheral vision. This makes them excellent for driving. Therefore I would describe them as a real driving enthusiasts collection.
The new models in particular, which have carbon fibre arms, look very smart. Here’s a selfie a client of mine sent me recently wearing his new pair:
Another aspect which characterises Jaguar glasses is colour, but they do it well most men don’t want their glasses to be too bright, but at the same time colourful frames are growing in popularity. I remember a time men would wear only black, gunmetal, brown silver or gold. That’s not the case now. Jaguar glasses incorporate colour, but in a subtle way, such as flashes on the arms or on the inside of the frame, as you can see in this examples:
Porsche Design
Porsche Design Eyewear is renowned in the optical trade for technical luxury, which refers to the fact that they are incredibly well engineered for supreme comfort and durability. The attention to detail is unrivalled; for example, they feature unique nose pads which are less sticky than usual but still soft against the skin, in a custom shape to distribute weight better as well. They even have custom designed screws which fasten tighter and come loose less often. Porsche Design frames are made either in Japan or Italy, which are traditionally two of the best regions for eyewear design.
The best way to describe the styling is sleek. They just look so refined, minimalistic but also solid.
My Ratings
It’s worth bearing in mind that Bugatti and Porsche Design are a higher price point than Jaguar, so with that taken into account, I think its impressive that Jaguar frames still score well in every aspect. But if you want that bit extra, for example a stronger, longer lasting frame like the Porsche Design, or something unique and exclusive like Bugatti, then those two brands are a level above.
