Some eyewear combinations work because of contrast. Others work because every individual detail seems to belong together.

This week's Eyewear of the Week is very much the latter – the incredible Lucas de Staël Helium 09, customised with warm, earthy tones that complement the frame's unusual mix of materials beautifully.

Lucas de Staël is renowned for creating eyewear that goes far beyond conventional frame construction, combining unexpected materials with incredible craftsmanship. The Helium 09 demonstrates this perfectly, with its Stone outer, Whiskey leather inner and beautifully intricate Bronze bridge detailing.

It's a frame with plenty to discover. From the front, the textured Stone gives it a strong, almost architectural appearance, while the Whiskey leather introduces warmth from within. Look closer and the delicate Bronze metalwork across the bridge and brow adds another layer of detail.

For this pair, we wanted the lenses to continue that same palette.

We've paired the frame with ZEISS ClearMind lenses, combining exceptional visual clarity with a completely bespoke aesthetic.

For the colour, we've created a 40%–20% Cinnamon-to-Rose bigradient tint.

The Cinnamon works beautifully alongside the Whiskey leather, bringing out those rich, warm brown tones before gradually transitioning into a softer Rose. It's an unusual combination, but one that feels completely at home within this frame – adding colour without taking attention away from its materials and construction.

Then comes the finishing touch.

We've added an Amber Flash, introducing a warm golden reflection across the surface of the lenses. As the light changes, the Amber catches alongside the delicate Bronze bridge detailing, creating another subtle connection between the frame and lenses.

The result is a pair where every element has been chosen to complement the next.

The Stone outer provides texture and depth. The Whiskey leather brings warmth. The Bronze bridge adds intricate metallic detail. And the Cinnamon-to-Rose lenses pull those different tones together before the Amber Flash adds the final layer.

And that's exactly what makes this combination so effective.

The custom lenses don't overpower the craftsmanship of the Lucas de Staël – they become part of it. The Cinnamon echoes the warmth of the leather, the Rose introduces a softer change in tone, and the Amber Flash beautifully complements that fine Bronze detailing.

Stone, Whiskey, Bronze, Cinnamon, Rose and Amber – very different tones and materials, brought together in one incredibly considered piece of eyewear.

This is a perfect example of what can happen when we don't simply choose lenses for a frame, but design the entire combination to work as one.
