Sometimes the most understated frame is the perfect canvas for something much more colourful. This week's Eyewear of the Week is the beautiful Masunaga GMS-805 in Crystal, customised with a combination of violet tones that completely transforms the finished pair.

Masunaga is renowned for its exceptional Japanese craftsmanship, and the GMS-805 demonstrates exactly why. The transparent Crystal acetate gives the frame a beautifully clean and refined appearance, allowing its shape and construction to speak for themselves. It's subtle, sophisticated and incredibly versatile – but we've given this particular pair a very different personality through the lenses.

We've paired the frame with IOT Progressive Advanced lenses, providing our customer with clear, comfortable vision across multiple distances while allowing us to create something that looks every bit as good as it performs.

For the colour, we've added a 40%–0% Sweet Violet gradient tint.

Starting with a beautiful violet tone at the top before gradually fading completely clear towards the bottom, the gradient brings just enough colour to make the glasses distinctive without overpowering the transparency of the Crystal frame. The combination works particularly well because there isn't another strong frame colour competing with the lenses – instead, the violet almost appears to float within the clear acetate.

But these glasses have another side to them.

We've also incorporated Purple Transitions, allowing the lenses to react to UV outdoors and develop into a much deeper purple. What begins as a subtle violet gradient indoors transforms into a completely different look in the sunshine, while also providing the practicality and visual comfort of a photochromic lens.

It's a perfect example of how we can make one pair of glasses work in completely different ways. Indoors, they're light, elegant and softly coloured. Step outside and the purple intensifies, turning them into a much bolder piece of eyewear.

And that's exactly what makes this combination so effective.
