Eyewear of the Week: GAST Trama with Amber Lenses
Some eyewear looks to the future. Other designs prove that the best styles never really go away.
This week’s Eyewear of the Week is the GAST Trama 04 in Honey – a frame packed with old-school character and unmistakable retro appeal.
The Trama 04 takes inspiration from classic eyewear shapes, with its bold proportions and warm honey colouring giving it an authentic vintage feel. There’s something wonderfully nostalgic about this frame; it feels like a design you could have discovered decades ago, yet its styling makes just as much of an impact today.
That warm colour palette gave us the perfect starting point for the lenses.
We customised the Trama 04 with Zeiss SmartLife Superb lenses, combining excellent vision with a lens design created around the way we use our eyes in modern everyday life. SmartLife technology takes into account today's dynamic visual behaviour, helping to provide comfortable, natural vision across different distances and throughout the day.
But it’s the lens colour that really transforms this pair.
We added a 40% Amber tint, enhancing the warm, vintage aesthetic of the Honey frame without making the lenses too dark. The amber tone flows beautifully with the translucent colouring of the acetate, creating an almost tonal look where the frame and lenses feel as though they were designed for one another.
To finish the customisation, we added an Amber Flash. As the light catches the lenses, the flash introduces another layer of warmth and reflection, bringing the entire combination to life while reinforcing that unmistakable retro feel.
The finished result feels like a modern interpretation of eyewear from another era. Honey acetate, amber lenses and an amber flash come together to create a beautifully cohesive pair of glasses with bags of personality.
Proof that sometimes looking back is the perfect way to create something completely individual.
