Our first ever golf event was held on Sunday 15th October 2017, and I’m proud to say it was a huge success. The concept of the day was to reward some of our loyal golfing customers, by giving them the opportunity to meet like minded people and enjoy a free round of golf around one of Lancashire’s most scenic courses.

The day started with a complimentary breakfast, where everyone was introduced to one another, before the group was arranged into teams of 3.
It was great having Ruth there to help with everything, particularly arranging the tee times. I’m pretty sure she could have a career in events management!
The guests all tee’d off at their allocated times and embarked on their rounds:
Ashton & Lea is a really stunning course (one of the main reasons we chose to become their main sponsors):
The greens are also immaculately kept:
And there was some good putting on display too:

The ladies all had fun:
And so did the guys!
We ran a ‘nearest to the pin’ competition on the par-3 11th, and the winner was Gareth Marks (pictured below). Congratulations to him! He won a pair of Reykjavik Eyes sunglasses with Kodak prescription lenses worth roughly £800!
The 11th turned out to be a particularly challenging hole, as only 3 players actually hit the green at all! The other 2 players who hit the green were Brian Turner and John Williams. I had the job of measuring, and Gareth won with a distance of 23’.
Me and Ruth tweeted updates throughout the event:

The sponsorship of Ashton & Lea came about because we specialise in golf eyewear designed to give you the best vision possible for the sport. Specialised golf glasses enhance your vision in any weather and are available with and without a prescription.
The image below shows the difference they can make:
Here you can see Mark Porter (left), who has ordinary glasses with transitions which adjust to the weather conditions, Steven Barton, who wore Nike Golf glasses with no prescription, and John Williams who has fully tailor made Nike Golf glasses to his prescription:
After everyone got back to the clubhouse, we all had drinks and snacks, and every attendee was treated to a goody-bag, prepared by Amanda and Ian:
Everyone seemed to have a fantastic time and it was lovely to receive messages from clients afterwards telling us how much they enjoyed the event. We’ll be hosting a second one in March 2018, the guest-list for which is almost full already.
If you want to try a set of the Nike Golf glasses, they are
available for a free trial in the Pro Shop at Ashton & Lea
The overall winner of the event was Geoff Henckel

Congratulations to him!
