The best optician in Preston – How did we do it?
So, it’s come to my attention that we are currently not only the top-rated optician in Preston but actually in Lancashire! That’s according to Google, anyway. How have we achieved that? I think it comes down to a few key principles:
We’ve been open now for over 20 years, and during that time the type and brands of glasses we’ve sold has changed. The design of the shop has changed. Our business model has changed. But as a family company, one thing has remained the same; we care. We genuinely care about every single one of our customers, and I think that always shines through.
For example, when someone buys a pair of glasses from us, we commit to adjust, maintain and repair their glasses for life (where possible, of course!). But more than that, we invite them in every 6 months for a free service on their glasses. What other optician does that? Another example: numerous times I’ve personally delivered a pair of glasses to someone’s house in the event there has been an unexpected delay meaning it was inconvenient for that person to collect them. The simple fact is we go the extra mile (literally).
3 Steps to Better Vision
This is fundamental to everything we do, since it allows us to guarantee every client of ours the best vision possible. You can read more about it here, and I also talked about it in my book (which you can request for free here). Better vision is something we all want, and being able to consistently deliver that makes us all very proud to do the job that we do.
The Coolest and most Innovative Glasses.
How do you think most opticians buy the glasses they sell in their store? Let me fill you in: Reps from the various brands visit every now and again and show them the current collections. And most of those brands are owned by 1 or 2 companies, who sell the same products to every optical store. I know that because that’s how we used to do it. And that’s why you see the same glasses everywhere, just with different names on the arms.
But I’m the adventurous type, and I’m also in love with stories. When I buy something, I like to know the passion and technology that went into it. Who designed it and what was their inspiration. The story behind it. So I started going to eyewear shows around Europe.
Trips to Milan and Paris showed me there’s a lot of innovation out there, but you have to go looking for it. I saw glasses unlike any I had come across up until then. Gradually, we started to bring more and more unique brands back, and our customers loved them! Nowadays we predominantly sell handcrafted glasses that are far nicer and better-made than the average.
I should say thank you to all of our customers who gave us great reviews. And we’re always working to make sure our clients get the best glasses, the best vision and the best service.
